Whitewater Ontario represents nearly 600 recreational and competitive paddlers in a variety of whitewater disciplines including slalom, freestyle, open canoes, and recreational river running. Our organization is comprised of individual, club, and commercial memberships. Many of our clubs organize events such as MackFest, Hell or High Water, our biannual Summer Race Series, and the Andrew Westlake Memorial Slalom Race. Whitewater Ontario’s River Preservation and Access Committee is very active and recognized as a driving force in the important area of river advocacy. We also own and operate the Minden Wild Water Preserve on the Gull River which will be the venue for the 2015 Pan American Games canoe slalom event.
Whitewater Ontario Advocacy is about maintaining and improving the whitewater community’s recreational resources. It’s about celebrating rivers, gaining and maintaining access and creating and developing when opportunities arise.
For instructor training and certification, WO is a delivery partner of the national Whitewater Kayaking Instructor Program with Canoe Kayak Canada.
The Canoe Kayak Canada (CKC) Whitewater Kayak Instructor program is the nationally recognised certification for whitewater kayaking.

Competition in whitewater paddling is an individual sport within a very positive team atmosphere. Since it is such a small community, athletes and beginners often get to know each other on a personal basis and support each other in learning skills, sharing rides, paddling and training tips.
